Gerry Anderson's Supermarionation |

Ever since hearing Barry Gray's opening theme song for Fireball XL5, I've become a fervent fan of Gerry Anderson's 'Supermarionation television shows. As a child, I would run home after school to watch Steve Zodiac and the Fireball XL5 spaceship encounter all manner of villains and aliens. Who could forget the large-headed puppets as they hopped around on the screen, with many glimpses of the dozens of strings controlling them? Soon after, Supercar with Mike Mercury aired and had me glued to the screen, followed by Stingray with Troy Tempest, Thunderbirds with the Tracy family and Captain Scarlet & The Mysterons. For some reason, I didn't watch Joe 90 and Secret Service. Perhaps they were never aired in Canada. Recently, many of these series were re-aired in their entirety on YTV in Canada to excite a whole new generation of fans. Over the years, I've acquired a few items related to these shows. Some of them are shown below. |
